Incredible front-yard pool and entertainment space
After purchasing a new holiday home along the stunning Mornington Peninsula, our clients contacted us wanting to add a swimming pool to the property but were concerned about the amount of space they had in the backyard.
At first look we discovered a large area out front of the house, with breathtaking views of Port Phillip Bay. We floated the idea of creating a pool and outdoor entertaining space out the front of the house, making the space both a functional and beautiful area. The steep slope of the driveway led the design toward an infinity edge style pool, that would be surrounded an eye-catching wet wall.
Not only does the infinity edge create the perfect blend between the pool and its priceless view, it also transforms the space into a tranquil and still environment when lounging on the deck.
The landscape design of the area was to be kept simplistic, while remaining complementary to the surrounding nature and bay. wanting to maximise the space of the outdoor area that had been created, we constructed a large deck to wrap around two sides, enhancing the infinity edge that runs along two sides of the pool.
By creating a central step area, we were able to connect the pool to the above area, being the driveway and entry to the house. The remainder of the space was filled in with large, curved garden beds with feature rock work and native plants.
The feature walls of the pool are tiled with a blue-black blend of glass-mosaic tiles, creating a stunning orb like structure. The pool’s interior is tiled with a steel blue ceramic tile, mimicking the reflective water in the bay beyond.
For stress-free and easy maintenance, the pool has all modern, fully-automated equipment as well as the option for off-site monitoring, which is the perfect function for the holiday home.
