An indoor/outdoor pool that definitely catches the eye!
The swimming pool was to be constructed as part of a new development of a luxury apartment within a derelict warehouse in North Melbourne. The rear wall of the warehouse was removed prior to construction with the two side walls remaining. It was discovered that the side walls had minimal footings and required significant underpinning prior to excavating the pool.
Once excavation was underway it was discovered that much of the pool was constricted within fill, which required strip footings to be installed prior to the pool structure.
The customer was a developer looking to sell the apartment to a luxury buyer. His requirement was for a pool to be of an international luxury standard.
The pool is located within an indoor/outdoor space that is primarily designed for exercise and relaxation. The area surrounding the pool is large enough and undercover so a gym could be added. It also incorporates an undercover shower area.
The pool was designed to be the maximum length possible within the available space. The pool abuts the side boundary walls and supports the rear masonry wall. A central elevated spa was incorporated into the design steps either side into the pool.
Striking modern finishes enhance the space including white pearlescent glass mosaic pool tiles, white glass pavers, crushed glass render to the boundary walls and the exquisite floral mural glass mosaic tile to the remainder of the room. A 4.0m x 2.0m outdoor LED Screen provides a source of entertainment and adds ‘bling’ to the pool area.
The pool and spa are fully automated and operated via an iPad for convenient use, which also allows the customer to ensure their spa is hot when they arrive home. The pool is very easy to maintain with automatic chlorination and ph control. The pool and spa are heated by gas heating.
The pool was a success with it being awarded Highly Commended Best Residential Concrete Pool Under $100,000. Our client sold the property to an international buyer for a significant amount above his reserve.
